The Growth Company is delighted to announce it is now a member of The Black United Representation Network (BURN).

BURN aims to make the North of England the best place in the UK for black people to work, for black-owned businesses to thrive, and for enterprise, charities and the public sector to drive meaningful change on race.

It brings together black business owners, black professionals and progressive allies who want to take action, by:

  • Making procurement contracts and tenders open to black-owned businesses, which are ready and able to deliver. This includes public sector contracts, as part of the government’s social value commissioning, and private sector contracts and collaborations.
  • Growing the pipeline of board-ready black leaders in senior decision-making positions.
  • Enabling and empowering corporates to drive the societal change that they want to see, as part of their ambitions on diversity, inclusion and social responsibility.

Dean Williams, Programme Manager at BURN, said: We are thrilled The Growth Company are now members of BURN. Working with the Growth Company will ensure appropriate business support is targeted at black businesses who we believe will benefit greatly from this relationship. We will work with our members to maximise opportunities presented by the Growth Company’s years of experience providing services that develop businesses and enrich communities.”

Mark Hughes, Chief Executive of the Growth Company said: “Becoming a member of BURN is an important step for GC, demonstrating a commitment to maximising our positive impact for Black communities. We’re delighted to be able to draw on BURN’s expertise and support, as we continue to strive for a society where economic growth and prosperity is inclusive, sustainable and leaves no person or community behind.”
