GC launches ‘Fire Up Your Future’ programme in partnership with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service

The Growth Company is working in partnership with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) to help them make their workforce more diverse and inclusive. We are working with the GMFRS talent attraction team to support them in reaching out to priority groups across Greater Manchester – including women and people from minority ethnic backgrounds.  

The partnership has led to the development of ‘Fire Up Your Future’, a three-year, fully funded programme which allows people to develop the key skills they need to increase their job prospects within the fire service, and to gain an appreciation for the GMFRS recruitment process. The programme also includes Employability and Functional Skills, which can be applied to any role or industry.  

We have already assisted many individuals with the programme and we envisage that numbers will increase over the coming months. 

Jen Leggat, Business Development Project Manager, has been leading on the work with GMFRS. Speaking of the success of the project so far, Jen said: “It’s been great to enrol so many learners onto their Functional Skills and give them the opportunity to achieve a Level 2 in both Maths and English to support their application to the fire service. I look forward to seeing how they progress and wish them all the best for the future.”
