Clare Fallon, Sustainability Manager at the Growth Company, and Amy House, Director of Green Economy, have been shortlisted at this year’s UK Green Business Awards.

Hosted by BusinessGreen, the UK Green Business Awards celebrates the best of the green economy.

Clare Fallon, Sustainability Manager, The Growth Company

Clare has been shortlisted for the Sustainability Leader of the Year Award, which celebrates individuals at the heart of efforts to deliver truly sustainable business models and green business innovation.

As the Sustainability Manager for the Growth Company, Clare’s role includes ensuring all our activities are compliant with environmental legislation and in line with our targets to achieve net zero by 2035.

Clare developed a mandatory Environmental Awareness training module which gives colleagues an overview of climate change and the actions that can be taken in the workplace and at home. Since launching in November 2022 the training has been completed by 97% of colleagues.

Clare also delivers Carbon Literacy Training, which gives colleagues a robust understanding of the science behind climate change and the actions our organisation and individual business units can take to make a positive difference. So far 140 colleagues have achieved certification.

Amy House, Director, Green Economy

Amy has been shortlisted for the Leader of the Year Award, which celebrates leaders who have not only been instrumental in driving positive environmental change at their organisation but have also helped to make the wider case for the net zero transition.

Green Economy, part of the Growth Company, started as a Greater Manchester initiative to support and promote green technology and green business. Under Amy’s leadership, Green Economy now delivers across the north of England, offering their expertise and experience to private businesses, local authorities, and business support networks.

Amy has developed a team dedicated to improving the competitiveness of the supply chain to overcome the market failures that prevent the uptake of low carbon technology and promoting the businesses playing a key role in delivering the UK’s net zero ambition.

The team of specialists work with businesses across multiple sectors to implement an environmental strategy that aligns with their growth plans to ensure sustained high performance, helping businesses to save more than one million tonnes of CO2e since 2013.
