The Growth Company congratulates the 26 North West businesses honoured with a Queens Award

26 businesses from across the North West have been honoured in the 2019 Queens Awards for Enterprise, one of the most prestigious awards for British businesses. The North West was awarded the third highest number of awards, after the London and South East regions. Cheshire-based technology business Driveworks was awarded in two categories – International Trade and Innovation – taking the total number of awards for the region to 27.

This year’s roll of honours, announced on April 23rd, features a number of businesses that the Growth Company is proud to have worked with. In the International Trade category, this includes Wigan-based chemical manufacturer Bitrez and Warrington-based hot foil specialist Foilco, both of which have received dedicated support from a Growth Company International Trade Adviser (ITA). Foilco has also worked with colleagues from the GC Business Growth Hub, part of the Growth Company, receiving support for workforce development and eco innovation.

Universal Smart Cards (pictured below) is another winning business in the International Trade category. Upon winning the Award, Paul May, Universal Smart Cards’ Sales and Marketing Director, said: "I'd like to thank our ITA, Penny Wang Orme, for helping us shape our export strategy and initiatives over the last two years. I highly recommend engaging with the Growth Company and DIT if you want to grow your export sales."

Another winning business is ParkCloud, a Manchester-based organisation leading in the field of online parking reservations. ParkCloud has worked with the Hub to enable digital growth.

Chief Executive of the Growth Company, Mark Hughes, says: “I would like to personally extend my congratulations to each and every one of these businesses, who have demonstrated the highest levels of business excellence, by being honoured in this way.
