The Growth Company secures £56m to boost skills and employment provision across the North

We’re pleased to announce that we’ve just been awarded a £56.5m contract package as a result of bidding for ESF from the Education and Skills Funding Agency. This European Social Fund investment package will be delivered in partnership with Local Enterprise Partnerships in Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Sheffield City Region over the next two years.

Across Greater Manchester, we will be delivering three contracts which will support 17,000 local people to develop their skills so they can enter the workplace or accelerate their careers.

This will complement our existing contracts and apprenticeship provision, enabling us to offer a truly holistic service to individuals are struggling to find work and to businesses looking to improve their productivity.

We also secured the Skills Support for the Workforce contracts for Lancashire and Sheffield City Region, as well as the Skills Support for the Unemployed contract for the Sheffield City Region.

Mark Hughes, CEO of the Growth Company, said: “This is an outstanding result for us on so many levels, and one which is transformational both for us as an organisation and for the people we will be supporting thanks to this win. Our success underlines our track record in supporting people into training and employment, and strengthens the work we’re already doing in this capacity across Greater Manchester and beyond.”

He added: “It’s also very timely given our recent Ofsted report which recognised us as a Grade 2:Good education provider. I’m very proud to say that as we celebrate our 30th anniversary, we have never been in a stronger position and we will continue to go from strength-to-strength.”

Delivery of all contracts will begin on 1 April 2019. In the meantime, if you would like to make a difference to people across the North, take a look at our latest vacancies. We've listed a number of exciting roles that we're now recruiting for.
