GC’s EmbRace Network sponsors dance troupe at Manchester Caribbean Carnival

The Growth Company’s EmbRace EDI Network, which celebrates individuals across GC from diverse racial backgrounds, is sponsoring the Jet Black Dance Troup at Manchester’s Caribbean Carnival this weekend (Saturday 13th August).  

Jet Black is a dance academy made up of 50 performers from across Greater Manchester. The owner and creator previously accessed the Growth Company’s services to set up the academy and work with passionate young people in the local area. The troupe perform modern and traditional dances influenced by Afro-Caribbean culture.  

The sponsorship money from the EmbRace Network will ensure that every dancer in the troupe has access to a hot meal on the day, bottles of water on the float and a break-out tent where they can rest and eat after the parade.  

Fiona Miller, Chair of the EmbRace Network, said on behalf of the network: “We’re really proud to be sponsoring Jet Black and showing our support for local dance talent. It’s amazing to think that the troupe was set up as result of help and support given through the Growth Company’s diverse portfolio of services. This year is the Manchester Caribbean Carnival’s 50th anniversary, so it will be a really special occasion – myself and the team are looking forwarding to cheering on Jet Black and all the other parade participants on Saturday. I would also like to thank all members of the EmbRace Network for their hard work to help make this happen – it’s been a real team effort.”  

The EmbRace Network is just one of eight EDI (Equality, Diversity and Inclusion) networks we have internally here at the Growth Company. These networks play an important part in connecting colleagues who have shared experiences, giving them the opportunity to meet and seek support from like-minded peers. The networks also help to drive GC’s EDI strategy, positioning us as a workplace that truly embraces and celebrates the qualities that make us unique.
