National Careers Week 2023: Jo Li secures a promotion in a job that he loves

To celebrate National Careers Week 2023, we’re turning the spotlight on our brilliant colleagues- and celebrating some of our own colleagues who have recently been successful at achieving a promotion! The first of our colleagues is Jo Li- we sat down and spoke with Jo about his thoughts:
Why did you want to work at the Growth Company – did anything stand out from other companies?
Initially, I thought the Growth Company is a meaningful company to work for, since they are a social enterprise helping many businesses and individuals to grow. After working here, I found that the organisation is even better than I expected. They work for a purpose and have a great company culture and value that puts the people and employees first, which is challenging to implement in many companies.
What did you learn in your old role that prepared you for your promotion?
My main duty is to develop the marketing strategy and execute marketing tactics to promote the Skills for Growth - SME Support and GM Leadership Hive Programme, helping me to build a good foundation for understanding the working culture and environment in the Growth Company and the UK- which is equally crucial. Being passionate about what you are doing, with a clear mindset on setting priorities and delivering on various tasks, could be the key to success.
How do you feel about your new role?
I am delighted to secure the promotion to the Marketing Business Partner role, especially since I only joined the Growth Company a short time ago.
I relocated to the UK less than two years ago, and had to start everything from scratch. The promotion gave me more confidence that I am going in the right direction to develop my career here. I will not take it for granted, as I know I need to keep learning and to develop myself further, to avoid lagging behind in this fast-changing world.
What are you looking forward to most?
I treasure the opportunity given to me, and I will try my best to make a positive difference and contribution to the Growth Company. Whether it's a big project or a small task, I will still strive for excellence and look forward to creating values and insights to help my company to thrive.
What would you say to someone thinking of joining the Growth Company?
I’d say they are always looking for new talent, they embrace diversity and inclusion, and provide the opportunity to develop the employees. Most importantly, the company culture is positive, and most colleagues are passionate and friendly. I highly recommend Growth Company to others as it is a great company to work for.
