Leader, Tameside Council
Councillor Eleanor Wills was appointed Executive Leader of Tameside Council in October 2024, following a decade of dedicated service as a ward councillor for Dukinfield and Stalybridge. As Executive Leader, Eleanor is committed to inclusive leadership, regeneration, and social equity. She has championed major town centre regeneration projects across Tameside, including Ashton, Hyde, Droylsden, and Stalybridge, with a focus on improving connectivity and accessibility - particularly through the Bee Network and enhanced public transport.
In her GMCA role, Eleanor is the portfolio lead for Greater Manchester Pensions Fund Investments and Bee Network Pensions, reflecting her commitment to long-term financial sustainability and equitable transport infrastructure across the region.
A passionate advocate for listening and collaboration, Eleanor brings empathy and transparency to her leadership style. She is particularly focused on engaging with residents to understand their needs and aspirations, ensuring that local voices shape the future.
Outside of her council duties, Eleanor enjoys spending time with her family and is qualified in counselling, which informs her compassionate approach to driving improvement and change.
