Carbon Literacy Pledge - Gaile

I’ve always tried to be mindful about energy use, and recently becoming Carbon Literate certified has deepened my understanding of its impact.

The training was truly eye-opening, and I’m grateful that GC is offering this to boost our awareness.

One of my personal pledges is to switch off equipment when it’s not in use. It’s a simple but powerful habit that cuts energy consumption and lowers my carbon footprint.

Like many of us, I’d often leave things plugged in or charging out of convenience, without really considering whether they were still needed or already fully charged. I chose this pledge because it’s something I can easily incorporate into my routine and see immediate results from.

While reducing 0.5 tCO₂e a year as an individual might seem small, imagine the collective impact if everyone at GC made similar changes and influenced others to do the same.

Since I began, I’ve also started spotting other areas where small adjustments can add up to greater savings. So, let’s not underestimate the power of our efforts – small changes really do make a big impact!
