This week we took part in Carbon Literacy Action Day, the world’s largest climate education and action training event, organised by the Carbon Literacy Project.

Across GC colleagues have been taking part in Carbon Literacy Training, joining thousands of people across the world gaining the knowledge to take action on climate change and deliver positive change.

We kicked off the week with an online training session taking place across two half days on Monday and Tuesday, which saw 18 colleagues from across the growth company coming together to better understand climate change and the steps we can take to address it.

Then on the official Action Day, the team headed to Sheffield to welcome more colleagues for an in-person training day.

Once these colleagues have submitted their pledges, they will join the 232 Carbon Literacy Certified colleagues at GC.

In July last year, we achieved Bronze accreditation, and we’re now working towards achieving Silver.

Have you completed Carbon Literacy Training yet?

If you haven’t completed Carbon Literacy Training yet and would like to do so, keep your eyes peeled for the 2025 dates which will be announced soon.

So far, over 300 colleagues have completed Carbon Literacy Training. We have a number of colleagues who have completed the training but have not submitted their pledges. In order to become certified as Carbon Literate you must submit your pledge, this will also allow us to reach our goal of achieving Silver accreditation.

Our Sustainability Team is arranging drop-in sessions to support colleagues with pledges. If you feel this would be useful for you, please contact Victoria for more information: victoria.fernandez@growthco.uk
