Councillor Nazia Rehman

Councillor in Tyldesley, Wigan Council

Nazia Rehman is a chartered certified Accountant by profession. She was elected to the Council in 2016 for the Tyldesley Ward. Since being elected Nazia has served the Council in a number of positions including a member of Audit Committee and SCRE. Nazia has also served as the lead member for Community and Family Safety and represented the Council on the Greater Manchester Police and Crime Panel.

Nazia is now the Cabinet Member for Resources, Finance and Transformation. Her duties and responsibilities include implementing the Deal for the Future, leading on transformation plans, public service reform and growth and customer services. She also has responsibility for human resources, and links to Communication in relation to its strategic lead for outward-facing services across the Council in terms of commissioning i.e. organisational development, reputation management, policy support and performance management. She is responsible for ensuring that the Council has high standards of accountability by monitoring how well resources are used, which includes technology, property/assets, finances and people and the One Council theme, together with the client functions.

Nazia represents the Council on North West Employers Association, Statutory Functions Committee, GM Reform Executive and Yorkshire Purchasing Organisation Joint Management Committee.
